Ewan McGregor Steps Into The Lead For Drake Doremus’ Zoe

Drake Doremus is getting ready to make his next film scientific/romantic drama Zoe, but he’s had to make a change to the leading cast line-up because of those pesky scheduling difficulties. Charlie Hunnam is dropping out, but Doremus has already lined up Ewan McGregor to replace him.

Léa Seydoux remains attached to the film, which we now know will follow two colleagues at a lab who are working on some revolutionary research intended to improve and perfect romantic relationships. And while you might wonder how science could play a role, the effects apparently have a profound effect on the scientists. Doremus is preparing to shoot the movie in April in Montreal, with a script in hand from Rich Greenburg.

And it’s not even Doremus’ next film to see the inside of cinemas, as he snuck in a quick shoot on Newness that stars Nicholas Hoult and Laia Costa and is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.

As for McGregor, he’s headed back to our screens for one of his most iconic roles, the return of Renton in T2 Trainspotting, out in the UK on Friday. Following that, he’ll be playing Lumiere in the new live-action Beauty And The Beast, arriving on 17 March.
